Christa Nigro, MHC Intern

Mental Health Counselor Intern, School Counselor

Christa is currently completing her final semester in the Advanced Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Counseling program at the University at Buffalo. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Union College and her Master’s degree in School Counseling from Boston University.

With over 13 years of experience in school counseling, Christa has supported students from elementary through high school in their academic, social, and emotional development. She also spent five years working in a college career services office, where she helped adults navigate career decisions, life transitions, and personal growth.

Christa specializes in working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety and depression, as well as individuals seeking a supportive space to process emotions and life experiences. She believes therapy is most effective when clients feel comfortable, understood, and supported, and she strives to create a welcoming environment where people can show up authentically and be themselves.

Christa is also accompanied by her certified service dog, Wilson—an important member of the team who specializes in comfort, calm, and making therapy feel a little less intimidating.
